Kembara Bumi Suci (Flag Off je...)

Ramainya bikers datang bagi support kpd 12 org bikers yg akn ke Tanah Suci dgn motosikal masing2 pagi tadi di Glenmarie. Jumpa Han Tayar Golek, sempat amik gambar tapi kamera Stone kot, hehe... Pelepasan di depan kedai Two Wheel Garage. Konvoi ni diketuai oleh saudara Azman, owner Two Wheel Garage kata Chip. Ada beberapa penaja yg sudi menaja termasuk DRB-Hicom. Ada 2 buah 4 wheeler yg follow bawa keperluan dan peralatan kecemasan. Ramai gak bikers plan nk follow sampai ke sempadan dan tak kurang juga yg nk follow sampai ke Hatyai. Semangat bikers la tu.

Konvoi Kembara Bumi Suci berlepas dlm kol 9 lebih, mula2 grup 12 bikers yg menyertai konvoi diketuai oleh saudara Azman dan 2 buah spider sbg gimik pelepasan, tapi 4 wheelers gerak lewat, bikers yg follow pun satu satu keluar dari tempat parking/pelepasan. Jenuh gak tengok outrider polis trafik tu nk control trafik sebab tak gerak dlm satu kelompok, banyak 'bubble'.

Traffic light merah bila sampai dekat simpang politeknik/TTDI Jaya menghala ke Guthrie hiway, polis pulak dah ke depan, hadoi... Sampai tol konvoi kena tunggu sebab kena blok dgn kereta nak bayar tol, spider tak lepas nak lalu lorong motor...dugaan sungguh. Dah masuk PLUS hiway kereta banyak. Memang best tengok sebab motor penuh atas hiway, tapi a bit berterabur...lane kiri, kanan, tengah. Lepas je Lembah Beringin hiway clear, dipenuhi oleh motor superbike di setiap lorong, conquer habis, terbaik, hehe. Nak amik gambar tak boleh sebab atas motor, cuba gak nak kedepan tapi agak terlewat. Stop kat jejantas sebelum exit Tanjung Malim sempat la amik gambar motor satu persatu melepasi area tu, yg dah split drpd konvoi. Speed pun dah tak sama, ada yg laju ada yg sederhana laju, layan je la...hehe.

Grup kami sampai di sini je...aku, Chip, Stone, ZZZ & wife dan Usop jr., singgah breakfast pau Tanjung Malim jap, pas tu baru balik. Fuad dan Ustaz Bangi Bikers yg follow dari Bangi pagi tafi tak join ke Tg Malim. Suhaimi pun tak join gak, ada hal. Jumpa ramai grup2 bikers lain di Tg Malim. Ketua LBM pun ada, team GS, Goldwing pun ramai...

Otw balik hujan kejap sampai Lembah Beringin kot, tapi basah gak la dan jalan licin. Alhamdulillah selamat sapai balik kol 12pm. Bagaimana agaknya grup konvoi Kembara Bumi Suci? Apapun jaket u ols terbaik, cun sgt, tak ade xtra ke? Hehe...

Interview Nak Masuk UiTM

Alif ada interview utk masuk UiTM pagi tadi. Lepas solat subuh terus bertolak ke UiTM Shah Alam. First time Alif pakai smart, siap tie, seluar slack, baju kemeja dan kasut kulit hitam...fuyooo... 

Ikut surat yg diprint dari website UiTM interview start jam 830am. Plan nak sampai awal, 750am dah masuk ke area parking Fakulti Senibina UiTM Shah Alam. Crowd dah mula nak ramai tapi Alhamdulillah parking banyak lagi yg kosong dan dekat je. 

Lepas daftar Alif dpt no.16, terus ke tempat menunggu utk ujian lukisan. 830am calon2 dipanggil masuk utk ujian ukisan, Alif termasuk dlm grup ni. Sape yg sampai lewat walaupun seminit kena tunggu batch ke2, ujian start jam 1045am, dan katanya temuduga utk batch ke2 start jam 230pm...lega. Kalau termiss tadi alamat berpeluh gak la menunggu. 

Parents ramai yg menunggu di luar, cafeteria pulak lambat buka, yg ada gerai burger je pagi2 ni...so layan burger je la sebab dah lapar. Sambil menunggu tu 930am lauk pauk sampai. Gerai burger kehabisan stock kejap je, kena replenish baik sebab customers masih ramai menunggu, esp yg 2nd batch, dan maybe 3rd batch. 

Lama gak tunggu so lepak kat surau jap, jumpa parent lain dari Sg Besi, macam2 story la borak dari isu masjid ke politik ke isu bangsa...dah macam ahli politik la pulak, hehe. 

Alhamdulillah Allah permudahkan segala urusan, 11am Alif dah selesai interview dgn lecturer. Alif kata dia tunggu depan pintu masuk, so pegawai tu terus panggil suruh masuk dulu. Mungkin calon2 lain takut nak masuk kot. Ada yg kena 2 calon 1 penemuduga, ada yg one on one. Alif sorg je, so lebih fokus la. Banyak gak yg penemuduga tu tanya dan folio hasil kerja lukisan yg dibawa disoal satu persatu. 

Harap2 Alif dapat melanjutkan pelajaran di UiTM dan mengejar cita2 nak jadi arkitek insyaAllah. Abah, Umi, kakak, Tok Baba, Tok, Tok Ba, Tok Ma dan semua mendoakan kejayaan Alif...amen.

Employee (& Family) Engagement




How to naturally gaining employee's commitment? I interviewed one candidate for promotion today and I admired his definition of employee engagement. He's so involved with not only his staff but also their spouses, kids and even parents. He visited them when they were in hospitals, went to their wedding receptions, funerals, tahlil, cukur jambul etc etc. He had his tea tarik session with his staff regularly without fail after office or after maghrib in a really 'santai' mode, not as their boss but as their friend, mentor or big brother.

He really manages his team like a family...that's a truly and beyond employee engagemen! Ada brani?? hehe...

Organizational happiness






Interesting title right? Ihad the opportunity to attend a course on talent management a few months ago and the 1st thing the presenter talked about was organizational happiness. Tibet was the one and only nation to gauge Gross National Happiness, what a great thing to measure in a country. The buzz word in HC now is Employee Engagement, previously it was Employee Satisfaction, and now should a company also do the same and gauge their Employee Happiness Level? Would happy employees contribute better to his or her organization? There logic is there but is it a fact? If the employees are happy, they'll be more engaged to the company, hence they'll be more productive and contribute more. SO now, need to stop measure Employee Engagement Index (EEI), and measure Employee Happiness Index (EHI) instead...how about that?

TM Career Fair, TM Convention Centre (TMCC), 6-8/4/2012

Ramai giler orang datang, 1st day je dah 3500 calon dan bakal calon, 2nd day 5000. Yg dibenarkan masuk hanya calon yg dah register dan dapat 'passport' je, parents minta maaf, kena tunggu di luar sambil tengok mini konsert oleh Bunkface (eh bunkface ek tu?) atau dengar career talk oleh penceramah jemputan dari dalam dan luar syarikat termasuk oleh big boss, atau pun bershopping dan makan2 di area Menara TM, banyak gerai jualan dibuka. Try soto atau nasi lemak korporat, atau roti canai terbaik atau nasi ayam dan macam2 lagi...dibuka khas hari sabtu dan ahad ni sahaja.

Yg layak akan proceed ke tingkat 1 untuk ujian penilaian, kalau lepas penilaian, bleh proceed untuk interview. First time buat career fair memang agak kalut dan sikit terutamanya nak buat screening, assessment dan interview pada hari yg sama. Dengarnya jumaat kelmarin interview tamat jam 8 malam. Interview program SL1M (Skim Latihan 1 Malaysia) pun berlangsung serentak. Kpd yg lama menunggu utk ujian penilaian dan interview tu maaf lah ye...rasanya sekretariat pun tak sangka2 plak punya lah ramai yg hadir. Dah buat preparation terbaik pun pasti tak mampu nak puaskan hati semua. Apapun tabik spring kpd pihak pengajur/sekretariat yg bertungkus lumus utk memberikan yg terbaik kpd semua bakal calon. Komplen tu biasa lah, tapi kalau dalam 10,000 yg hadir, kalau terima 1-2 komplen dah kira sukses lah kan. Esok last day, harap yg terbaik dan ending yg terbaik utk semua. Adios...

Latest update: jumlah 'pasport'' yg dikeluarkan adalah 18,600 bakal calon...ramai giler tu. Ni tak termasuk ibubapa dan saudara mara. Semalam interview sampai 10 malam khabar nya. Tahniah kpd panel penemuduga yg bertugas dgn penuh sabar dan dedikasi. Beruntung peniaga2 yg berniaga di lobi dan pengusaha2 parking kat luar tu. Tahniah kpd calon2 yg berjaya terpilih, dan bagi yg kurang bernasib baik tu, cuba lagi di masa2 yg akan datang. Kejayan pasti tiba utk mereka yg berusaha, bertawakkal dan bersabar...

Behavioral Event Interview (BEI) Technique

BEI is now widely used as an interview tools to predict the behavior of the candidate to perform certain function effectively and efficiently. The answer or reply to any of the BEI interview questions should be based on STAR or Situation or Task, Action and Result. However, it's not easy to 'dig' the experience of each candidate if he or she could not focus to one particular example of his or her past experience. There's tendency for any candidates to share his or her wide and general experience if the interviewer could not 'control' the candidate. Candidates must understand that what are expected from them is to share their very specific experiences that had happened earlier in their life. They need to be focus to that one particular event and share their experiences based on the specific event or situation only. They have to share and 'walk through' their specific experiences with every details that had happened with the interviewer and finally to inform the results. In order to assist the interview panel as well as the candidates, the panel should lead or assist the candidate to focus on one particular event or situation that he or she had experienced earlier by stating the person who were involved, where it occurred, when and what was his or her role in that particular event or situation. Statement such as 'generally', 'usually', 'normally', 'I like to...', should not be mentioned at all during the experience sharing session. In addition, futuristic statement such as 'I hope', 'I'd like to..' should also be avoided. Opinion statement such as 'I think...', 'I guess', 'I am sure that...'and 'I know very well that...' should not be discussed during the interview. Since the interview is about the candidate who attended the interview, word to reflect many such as 'we', 'us' or everyone' should also be clarified further. It should be about him or her and all statement must be reflected to what he did before, unless it's about teamwork or others.

International Coaching Conference KL 2012

Dua hari attend International Coaching Conference dari 4-5 April 2012 di Cititel Hotel, memang menarik dengan presenter2 drpd luar & dalam negara. Btw ni bukan konferen coach bolasepak, tapi coach atau jurulatih kerjaya (betul ke ni translasi aku). Dan ptg tadi gak International Association of Coaches (IAC) KL Chapter dilancarkan. Lepas ni nk buat translasi Manual Mastery IAC ke Bahasa Malaysia, yg pertama seumpamanya di dlm bahasa selain drpd English. Kalau berminat nak jadi professional coach boleh je daftar dgn Asia eUniversity, Capt. Shan Director program ni. Kalau tanya lepas dah certified nnt masyuk ke tak, den ak bleh la nk jawab...tapi insyaAllah kalau niat tu nk menolong orang maju di dlm apa jua kerjaya yg diceburi. Semasa perbualan sewaktu lunch, ramai yg akui ilmu coaching ni bleh di-apply di dlm kehidupan seharian juga, bkn shj di bidang professional, dan ianya dgn sendiri melatih kita menjadi pendengar yg perihatin, mat salleh kata 'empathy' selain drpd kita sendiri bleh belajar drpd mereka2 yg kita coach tu, atau juga di panggil coachee.

Dah lama berminat tapi baru ni ada peluang dan dipermudahkanNya, Alhamdulillah. Btw coach ni bukan kaunselor atau motivator, lain sgt tekniknya...apapun jom la try :D
